Review
Although not quite worthy of a bouquet Hard Candy defiantly keeps you on the edge of your seat. Ellen Page pulls it off for the first time. This film made a name for herself leading up to the movie Juno. It plays on the sexual predator scenario. There are a number sickening events which keep your mind turning. The movie draws you in deeper, you do not want to watch it yet your eyes are glued to the screen. It is shocking and daring and that's what's to love about it.
Some might say Hard Candy goes to far. I say if you do not go that extra mile then your just running laps. This film is a new break through just like in the way Pulp Fiction was in the 80's. Unlike some films this one gives you something to really bite your teeth into. It is one of those movies where you know you are never going to see another one like it. It is certainly original seconds away from being an Indy. The whole thing was b balanced on the tip of a knife and you just knew something BIG was going to happen. With strong leading roles and a tight knit plot this film was defiantly worth the. Even though it was not your average Hollywood/blockbuster release.
Although I have mix feelings on whether to give this film two roses or one rose the fact is I really enjoyed it. On the other hand there will be a large crowd who cannot handle this film particularly mothers. If you do not mind the disturbing content then by all means watch it.
